Class Information

Horse in Hand.  Judge the knowledge and application of safe and effective horse-handling skills on the ground.  You will also be judged on the appearance of both you and your horse.  A simple pattern will be posted day of show.

Equitation.  Judge the performance of the rider on the rail (knowledge and application of classic seat and progression of proper cues/aids for Western and English riders while riding around the perimeter of the arena).

Lottery Equitation.  Judge the performance of the rider on the rail while riding a randomly selected horse other than your usual mount!  Lottery horses will be drawn from a hat.  You will be given 2 minutes to warm up on your lottery horse before judging begins.  Lottery equitation MAY be applied toward high point.

Rails.  Judge the equitation of the hunter/jumper over a course of five vertical rails w/flowers.  Level 3 may approach each rail at trot.  Level 3.5 may approach the first rail on each rein from trot and second & third rail on same rein should be cantered.  Simple lead changes allowed.  The course will be posted day of show.

Family and guests are encouraged to attend the show.  Remind them to dress in pasture-safe clothes (ants, manure, bugs, dust, heat, rain, and such) and bring a lawn chair.
